We are a locally owned, small animal hospital known in our area for practicing high-end, progressive medicine with a commitment to patient centered medicine and positive outcomes.  Recently we have had some incredible shifts in local patient demand that have compelled us to expand our services to allow additional specialty services and urgent care while maintaining our privately owned, personalized feel.  We take pride in our modern medicine, close-knit team, and positive atmosphere.  As a large privately owned hospital, we are redefining what it means to be a general practice to include a collaborative urgent care patient load spread across our current 5 doctor team, all while reducing burnout and keeping harmony between client perceptions, patient care, and staff fulfillment.  Expanding to a 7 doctor hospital will allow us to do just that!

A position at Westside Veterinary Hospital gives amazing flexibility to see a full spectrum of pet wellness exams all the way to urgent and interesting medical cases to the doctor's personal discretion and comfort level.  We currently have a strong desire to hire one or more of the following veterinary positions:

A full time weekday veterinarian working 36-38 hrs weekly with flexible scheduling possible.  This can include a dog/cat specific tract or we'd love to have an exotic animal veterinarian as well to serve our area's very large rabbit/guinea pig/avian population.  This position can be mentored for new or recent graduates.

A Friday-Saturday-Sunday urgent care/walk-in veterinarian working 30-32 hrs with full  benefits on a reduced hourly commitment.  This position would also offer a higher Pro-Sal compensation rate as well as a consistent 4 day off cycle each week.

Additional consideration would be amazing for a weekday Internal Medicine specialist to handle our ever-present area demand for advanced diagnostic interpretation, and referral appointments from other local hospitals 

We aim to attract a full team that shares comprehensive goals, eager to help pets in a nose-to-tail fashion, and ready to push medicine in a direction focused much more on preventative care and enhanced insurance-based medicine to reduce the burnout and stress so often felt in our field. Full laboratory with Idexx Procyte CBC and Catalyst chemistry machines, SediVue Urinalysis, dual microscopes, digital full body and dental x-ray, ultrasound, and more. Central oxygen for ease of patient care throughout surgery suite, hospitalization, recovery and/or isolation areas.  Two CO2 laser surgery units including our brand new 40w Aesculight model, vacuum suction, isoflurane anesthesia, allow large variety of surgery offerings based on skill level and desire.  High level dental and oral surgery and extractions performed almost daily, excluding endodontics.  Ability to expand existing floorplan to allow more specialized care rooms, separate lobby for emergency patients, etc and tailor to each candidates specific needs and wants.  High average client transactions and loyal client base means 6-figure earnings and more for enthusiastic team members on ProSal-based pay, complete with immediate vacation/sick time, health and dental insurance, professional dues, CE allowance.  $3000 sign-on bonus with 1 and 2 year retention bonuses for each position.  New graduates very much welcomed for general practice position with mentorship opportunities from our current 5 doctor staff.  Increased compensation packages available for emergency and specialty care positions.  Contact Dr. Nick Leonard at 570-288-8895.  See www.wsvhospital.com and www.facebook.com/westsidevethospital/ for additional information and an inside look at our hospital.  Full and Part-Time applicants welcomed to apply

About Westside Veterinary Hospital

WSVH is a leader in private practice veterinary medicine in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area of NEPA, located just 2 hours from Philadelphia, Ithaca, and New York City. We are a thriving 5 doctor practice looking to expand to 6-7 doctors due to our bustling caseload and increased demand for specialty services. Our hospital's mission is to be the number one private practice preventative health facility for dogs, cats, and exotics in our area without sacrificing work-life balance for our staff! The hospital itself is over 7500 sq ft, and located just across the Susquehanna River from downtown Wilkes-Barre. There are currently 5 FT doctors and 25 technicians/tech assistants/receptionist that afford us with a 4-5:1 support to doctor ratio to allow optimal workflow.
