Salary is commensurate with experience and will be prorated to part time hours based on the general range of $118,000-$135,200 dependent on experience.

The Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, Wisconsin (HAWS) is excited to add a dedicated Part Time Veterinarian to join our Spay/Neuter Clinic.
As an open admission, no kill shelter, HAWS supports more than 11,000 animals and welcomes more than 35,000 human visitors to our shelter. HAWS accepts animals regardless of age, health, temperament or breed. Our full service humane society offers programs and services that promote responsible pet ownership, preventing animal abuse and neglect in our community and beyond.

General Responsibilities:
Provide and perform quality spay and neuter surgeries for shelter, rescue and community animals working in accordance with shelter veterinary, high volume standards.
Provide quality medical care to both individual shelter residents and to pets in foster care, rescue group animals and to the pets of within the HAWS community.
Some contact with the public is required, but is minimal compared to private practice settings.
The right candidate will have strong surgical skills and interest in performing in a high volume spay/neuter surgical setting, with the option of having surgical variety by performing procedures based on ability such as orthopedics, dentistry, soft tissue and ophthalmic cases.
The ideal candidate seeks to make a difference in the community, has a positive and compassionate attitude, and is self-motivated to work alongside management, staff, and volunteers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Valid State License by Veterinary Exam Board / Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited university.
Ability to work under pressure and under noisy conditions around animas
Ability to lift and work on feet for long periods of time
Knowledge and comfort in shelter/medical database
Strong verbal and written communication skills
