The Department of Veterinary Large Animal Clinical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time, academic professional track, faculty position in Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging at the academic rank of assistant, associate professor, or full professor, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and credentials. Candidates must have a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree.  Applicants must be board certified or have met the requirements to take the board exam of the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging.  Applicants must be eligible for Texas veterinary licensure.   

Although the academic home of faculty members in radiology/diagnostic imaging is the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, the radiologists provide radiology/diagnostic imaging services for small, large, and exotic animals in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH).  These services encompass small animal ultrasonography, large and small animal radiology, MRI, computed tomography, and nuclear medicine. Our on-site Diagnostic Imaging and Cancer Treatment Center houses a 3T Siemens Verio MRI system and 40-slice Siemens CT scanner in a facility designed to accommodate both small and large animals. 

Teaching responsibilities for this position include professional pre-clinical and clinical teaching in College Station and providing professional pre-clinical education in the Texas A&M DVM 2+2 curriculum in the Veterinary Education, Research & Outreach (VERO) center at West Texas A&M University campus in Canyon, Texas.   Developed as part of the Texas commitment to animals and agriculture, VERO represents a dynamic partnership between the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences and West Texas A&M University (https://vetmed.tamu.edu/vero/team/).

The successful candidate will join a team of six faculty radiologists. It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute primarily to the Patient Care and Teaching missions of the School.  The faculty member is expected to develop and deliver well-organized, creative lectures and laboratory materials in the professional curriculum, be effective and innovative in his/her approach to teaching, and to teach, supervise, and mentor fourth year students, interns and residents in the VMTH.  In relation to Patient Care, the faculty member will be expected to provide excellent diagnostic image interpretation, communication, and service in the VMTH and participate with other faculty members in rotating emergency services. In support of the Teaching mission, the faculty member is expected to develop and deliver well-organized, creative lectures and laboratory materials in the professional DVM curriculum, be effective and innovative in his/her approach to teaching, and to teach, supervise, and mentor fourth year students, interns and residents in the VMTH.
