Paws With A Cause (PAWS) is hiring a friendly, innovative, team player to join our team! PAWS provides opportunities for people to live with dignity, companionship, and confidence through the breeding, training, and placing of Assistance Dogs. As the PAWS Veterinarian, you are responsible for ensuring the highest level of care and welfare of all PAWS dogs (and cats) including Canine colony health, providing medical care for foster puppies, breeding stock and dogs in training, and customer service support for volunteers and training staff. (PAWS dogs are generally in the age range of 0-3 years.) This role also recommends all policies and procedures for the proper care and support of animals at PAWS facilities. This is a salaried position working 32-40 hours per week, however, we are willing to discuss Part-time for the right fit!

- Adhere to and emulate the PAWS' Core Values in all that you do; must conduct yourself as an ambassador of PAWS displaying a proper cultural fit within the organization and actively participate on the PAWS Management Team to develop and implement organizational goals and priorities
- Assign the Licensed Vet Tech to share on call for medical situations as appropriate including performing emergency treatments
- Assist Human Resources in recruiting and hiring staff; supervise veterinary staff; provide appropriate support and professional development; manage performance and administer disciplinary action process
- Collaborate with the Breeding Program to develop quality, medically sound dogs; raise enough eligible dogs to meet client demand
- Oversee the care of all PAWS dogs in the PAWS breeding program, foster puppy program, prison program and training, & Purposeful Placement program
- Provide consultation and handle questions from PAWS departments, staff, and volunteers related to the care and safety of PAWS animals
- Provide vet care for all PAWS animals, including but not limited to routine vet care, spay/neuters, dentals, and other surgeries, response care to medical concerns and recommending medical care plans for outside emergency medical support
- Recommend organizational policies and procedures related to the care and safety of PAWS animals both at the PAWS facility and off-site
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Determines work assignments, priorities, and procedures for subordinates; ensuring quality and quantity of work. Holds decision-making authority for employee life-cycle from hiring to termination.
