Is work-life balance important to you? If your answer to that question is yes, then please read on. The owners of the Boone County Veterinary Clinic don’t just talk about having a good work-life balance, we actively make decisions so it is a reality. We are a three-veterinarian small animal practice nestled in the Ozarks in Harrison, AR and we are seeking to expand by adding another associate veterinarian.
Harrison is about 30 minutes south of Branson, MO and has a unique combination of agriculture, industry, and tourism. Outdoor activities of hiking, river floats, fishing, hunting, camping and enjoying the areas lakes are appreciated by many in the community. Harrison has excellent school systems with attractive facilities, competitive sports programs, strong fine arts programs, AP options, high scholarship rates, and other extracurricular activities available. There are also a number of high-quality smaller school systems in the surrounding area and active homeschool groups. Harrison also has an indoor swimming pool scheduled to be completed in 2022 which will aid the local swim team and further benefit the health of the community.
This well-managed practice seeks to cultivate a positive, industrious, encouraging work culture influenced by attentive, knowledgeable, responsible, honest and highly skilled veterinary technicians, assistants, and receptionists. The owners and veterinary associates are well respected and have good working relationships with staff. The work schedule is judiciously maintained to attend to the needs of regular clients with a hybrid schedule of 30-minute appointments and drop offs mixed in when needed, while maintaining boundaries for personal lives. Business hours are 8:00-5:00 M-F and 8-12 on Saturday. Veterinarians currently get a day off each week and rotate Saturdays equally. Minimal after-hours services are reserved for active clients only and shared equally among veterinarians, with the majority being handled with a phone conversation. Even though Harrison is a relatively rural area, there are two emergency clinics within about an hour. Mentorship is fostered among the entire veterinary team and is encouraged by all veterinarians on staff. The clinic has a good working relationship with the other practices in the community and regularly consults with veterinary specialists when encountering difficult medicine and surgical cases. The clinic is equipped with an Idexx laboratory suite, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, digital radiography, dental suite with IM3 pneumatic unit, surgery room, Ellman surgical unit, three exam rooms and Cornerstone veterinary software.
Veterinarians are interested in both sharing and learning new ideas and techniques from one another. Staff meetings are typically held on a monthly basis, and all veterinarians are welcome to attend management team meetings, which are usually held on a weekly basis. Benefit package will be commensurate with experience, including vacation, retirement plan, associational dues, professional liability insurance, and continuing education expenses.
