Seattle WA (Roosevelt District) – Hawthorne Hills Veterinary Hospital is privately owned AAHA Accredited, Cat Friendly certified hospital searching for a full-time doctor (new grads may apply). We are open four and half weekdays and have no weekend or overnight shifts. Our team seeks a fourth DVM who has a positive work ethic, enjoys building relationships and practices excellent medicine.
We are looking for an individual who promotes the value of preventative care and is confident in diagnostic workups and internal medicine. A successful candidate also has a strong interest and skills in dentistry, soft tissue surgery and embraces new ideas and technology.
Pro-Sal compensation with professional dues (license, VIN, etc.), sick and vacation time, medical/dental/vision, CE, simple IRA and other benefits. New grads start as salaried and transition to pro-sal.
Our clientele value their pets and trust us to guide them through a lifetime of care – from puppies/kittens to senior care. We offer traditional visits (okay, not quite yet), curbside & telemedicine consults and embrace the tenets of Fear Free. Our focus is on providing preventative care, education, diagnostic workups and internal medicine. We have a strong dentistry practice complemented by soft tissue surgery with appropriate preanesthetic screening and full monitoring for patient safety.
Here is where most listings say they have state of the art equipment, but we try to be truthful. In simple terms we are properly equipped with:
- electronic medical records
- DigiCare monitoring equipment
- high speed iM3 dental unit
- digital dental and regular radiographic capability
- in-house ultrasound
- ECG via Idexx cardiologist reviewed service
- Full surgery suite with suction and electrocautery available
- In addition, our entire hospital was built with a focus on ‘fear-free’ and has a quiet rubberized flooring which is friendly to knees
Instead of ‘busy’ (code word for overworked or just don’t know how to say no) we prefer to say we schedule appropriately based on staffing, case type and complexity. We have a full case load and a waiting list of new clients seeking to have their pets seen. We are doing our best to accommodate those who have no veterinary relationship in Seattle, and are taking transfer cases as our scheduling allows.
If you want to know about our staffing, we have a combination of seasoned and newer employees, all of whom are dedicated team members, and hard workers who understand the goals of the hospital. We take lunch breaks and we also know how to laugh and have fun. We have assistants in every visit who also act as scribes during conversations with clients. This has helped tremendously with efficiency and maintaining excellent medical records.
We have leveraged online pre-visit forms to collect visit histories in advance of appointments. Our typical appointment slots are 30-40 minutes, which allow us to focus on the issue(s) at hand. One of our strengths is guiding clients through complex medical problems. In addition, we have developed an excellent reputation and working relationships with our local referral specialists and several mobile practices who act as extensions of our hospital when patients need extra care.
We are seeking a professional who can work independently, but is looking to collaborate with the other doctors on staff as well as mentor our team. We are stronger because of our willingness to help each other, step in when needed, try out new ideas, share cases, and cheer on the successes of others. The right individual will bring their skill, professionalism, compassion and charisma and become an invaluable part of us.
