Veterinary students welcome to apply for externships in equine medicine and surgery.  We hope to provide the extern with a wide range of experiences that help educate you at all levels of equine veterinary medicine.  Our goal is for you to be involved / hands on in assisting the doctors and technicians  with case management of both hospital and ambulatory cases.  Exposure to both ambulatory and surgical cases will be extended.  We hope to make you familiar with ambulatory medicine from routine healthcare, theriogenology,  emergencies to hospitalized surgical cases and anesthesia.  If interested time will be allotted for veterinary business practice discussions as well.

 

 Please provide a cover letter and resume to us when applying.   Proof of student professional liability insurance can be obtained from AVMA-PLIT or similar will be required upon your arrival.

NOTES:

Additional Salary Information: We provide a small apartment offsite about 3 miles away. It includes a small kitchen with living area and bedroom as well as a bathroom, a fridge and microwave available as well. Plenty of comfort for you.

About Green Glen Equine Hospital
We are a 5 vet equine only veterinary practice with both ambulatory and hospital services. Recent renovation and addition to existing hospital. We provide both ambulatory and hospital services to our patients. Established in 1968 we have grown from a solo practitioner to a multi doctor practice. We see a wide variety of disciplines from TB racetrack, dressage, barrel racers, pleasure horses to back yard pets. Our hospital is over 4,000 sq ft and we have two barns. The hospital contains office space, lab, pharmacy, conference room, surgical suite with two induction and recovery areas as well as clinic space. We offer shockwave, IRAP, PRP, videoendoscopy, Prostride, lameness locator and many more services to best treat our patients. We continue to grow and want the best care possible for our patients while having a good balance for our staff.
