Veterinarian wanted for a 1-2 year exciting live subject research position in Salt Lake City.Duties include assistance with patient care of a small number of dogs in heart failure, being treated with a novel therapeutic for myocardial failure.Responsibilities include daily post-operative care following thoracotomy, catheterization or other procedures.Liaising with Principal Investigator as well as a Veterinary Cardiologist.Coordination and maintenance of records on laboratory and other monitoring parameters.Participation in routine blood draws, electrocardiograms, and echocardiograms.Learning pacemaker implantation.Weekly meeting with clinicians and scientists.Twice weekly journal club and lab presentations.
The ideal candidate exhibits maturity, ability to work with other veterinarians, human physicians (cardiologists), researchers, and staff.Willingness to assume responsibility along with flexibility to learn new skills is essential.Desire to expand cardiac knowledge base in a research environment.
