Internship-trained or experienced emergency doctors wanted at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists (OSVS), a large and busy 24 hour emergency and specialty referral center located in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The 26,000 sf facility includes dedicated emergency and specialty centers. We offer referral and emergency services to the RI, eastern CT, and southern MA areas. There is no general practice associated with the hospital. Equipment includes digital radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation, telemetry, fluoroscopy, and state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. The staff includes specialists in internal medicine, surgery, radiology, emergency/critical care, cardiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, clinical pathology, and avian/exotics, as well as a large group of experienced emergency clinicians. The hospital places a premium on continuing education. Daily case rounds ensure excellence in case management through collaborative discussion and provide an opportunity for continuous learning. There is in-house education for staff doctors, technicians, and referring veterinarians. There is a highly respected internship as well as emergency/critical care and surgical residencies, which helps to promote a didactic atmosphere and gives the emergency clinicians and specialists ample opportunity for teaching. The support staff is highly trained and enthusiastic about continuing education as well. The technicians working in the intensive care unit are capable of managing most nursing cases, including those on mechanical ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, continuous thoracic drainage, etc. This position offers emergency clinicians a unique opportunity to work in a well-equipped, state-of-the-art facility, side-by-side with a large group of specialists. The emergency doctors do not just work evenings and weekends, they work weekday inpatient shifts as well, giving them the opportunity to manage critical care patients and benefit from the referral hospital environment. The desire to continue learning and to participate in the teaching of interns and student externs is very important, and a good sense of humor is essential! The opportunity to split time between the RI hospital and our satellite facility in Massachusetts is also available. The clinics are only 20 minutes apart. The caseload is high, and the cases challenging, but the culture is positive and supportive. The hospital is privately owned – and the team knows that what we value are excellent medicine, excellent patient care, and our excellent staff. This is a tremendous environment to continue learning and growing but requires someone with a strong ER foundation (from a quality internship). Compensation is a base salary plus production, and benefits include health insurance, 401K, CE, and all licenses and professional memberships required to practice here. Maybe most importantly, ER doctors and interns frequently stay here for many years - attesting to the collegial and fulfilling work environment. If interested, please contact Dr. Justine Johnson at email@example.com.
