About Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center
We pride ourselves in an amazing, non-corporate, healthy, supportive work/family culture. We work as an open, multi-specialty hospital without "them vs. us" attitudes. We work for our patients, our clients, and our health and happiness.
The Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center (VREC) is PRIVATELY OWNED, located in South Abington Twp., an affluent suburb in northeast, PA. The building opened in 2010 and we are preparing for an expansion. The hospital is well equipped with advanced monitoring equipment, in-house labs, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, mechanical ventilator, telemetry, and complete nuclear medicine capabilities. We have the only 24/7/365 MRI in the northeast, outside of Cleveland, and receive referrals from University teaching hospitals.
We currently provide 24/7/365 emergency, critical care, internal medicine, surgery, neurology, and cardiology services. We have dedicated radiologists available for consultation and are continuing to expand to include, oncology, dermatology, ophthalmology, and other specialties.

In December 2009, after working as a referral surgeon in the northeast Pennsylvania area, and with overwhelming encouragement and support from clients, referring veterinarians, and the community, Dr. Nichole Danova and a small group of staff founded the Veterinary Surgical Center. The VSC functioned as a surgical referral service, and quickly grew. Plans to move into a larger, full service hospital were launched almost immediately, and VREC’s current location was established and construction began in February of 2010. VREC, a 24-hour, advanced care referral and emergency center was opened in South Abington Twp., Pennsylvania in May, 2010
