Big Dog Ranch Rescue is seeking a highly skilled veterinary assistant or technician to supplement our current medical team. Candidates must be able to multitask in a high paced environment as well as be experienced with handling all temperaments of dogs. Must have at least 2-3+ years of experience.
Duties that will be required: proper restraint; fecal sample collection and analysis; cytology preparation and analysis; administering SQ and IM injections; placing IV catheters, intubation/extubation and recovery from surgery; surgical site preparation and thorough knowledge of anesthesia monitoring; venipuncture from all sources (cephalic, jugular and saphenous); knowledge and use of diagnostic imaging.
Candidates should have a well based knowledge on vaccine protocols and heartworm/flea/tick prevention.
We are looking for a team player who is ready to hit the ground running, willing to learn new things with an open mind, and who understands and cares about the nature of rescue/shelter medicine.
No certifications needed but experience is a requirement. Employee must be available to work at least one weekend day. Compensation based on experience. Please reply with your resume.
