Do you want to work in a rural practice but you are afraid that you will work 5000 hours a week and get paid nothing? Are you a new or recent grad who has huge student loan debt and are worried about being able to have a salary that supports you but also time for a life? Have you always dreamed of becoming a vet and being able to save animals lives but now you are starting to wonder if that is truly possible with todays economy and clients? Well it is possible to live your dream! It is possible to work somewhere that appreciates you and all that you have given up and invested to become a doctor of veterinary medicine. It is possible to live somewhere that doesn't cost a fortune and allows you opportunity to work, live and play! It is possible to get to work on all God's creatures and still make a living!
Desert Cross Veterinary Hospital has two openings for mixed animal practitioners. Our starting salary for a recent grad is $75,000 and increases based on experience. The associate works four days a week 8-5 and emergency on call is split between all practitioners. All state and national dues, AVMA PLIT, and health insurance are paid as well as continue ed to one major meeting a year. Associate gets two weeks paid time off a year.
Desert Cross Veterinary Hospital is located in a small rural farming and mining town at the base of the Graham mountains in a beautiful valley that is flanked on the other side by the Gila mountains. It is off the beaten path in southeastern Arizona and our temperature gets around 100* for a few months during the summer and 40-50* for a few months in the winter and the last few months are a perfect 80*. Cost of living is very affordable and there is low crime rate and it is the perfect area to raise a family! There is a lot of adventure and hiking for the outdoor enthusiast and several bodies of water within an hours drive. Desert beauty is very unique and it grows on a person quickly if you give it a chance.
We are a busy practice that has most all the latest equipment and toys to help you be the best doctor that you can be. We have digital small animal and equine wireless x-ray, awesome ultrasound, brand new dental scaler, full Idexx in house blood machines, cold laser, a fully stocked diesel large animal vet truck and many other fun toys. It is our desire to help and treat as many patients as we can at a price that our clients can afford and we do that with love and kindness! We have assistant programs for veterans and the elderly and people who are down on their luck and just need a helping hand.
Our clients are the very best out there. We have ranching clients, equine breeding farms, sheep farms, lots of rodeo and roping clients and then just your everyday dog and cat parent who loves their pet like it was their child. We truly are the perfect type of mixed animal practice.
We are currently building an equine barn with hopes of expanding our equine services. There is a large need in our area for equine reproduction work and we would like to find a veterinarian who has interest in equine repro.
We are looking for two veterinarians who want to practice veterinary medicine the way it was meant to be. Imagine James Herriot meets the 21ST century. There is mentorship available to the extent that you want it and desire it but not in the way where someone is standing over your shoulder judging your every move and telling you everything to do. We want to help you but we want you to be able to spread your wings and fly and develop your work into everything you ever dreamed it would be.
Our staff is second to none and they are amazing! Our town is equally amazing! We go out into the community every Friday and hustle kindness to the local businesses and people of the community. It is our desire to not only help the pets of the Gila Valley but also to show the people that we care about them too! If it weren't for owners there would not be any pets for us to work on and we value both client and patient!
We are looking for veterinarians who have always dreamed of helping animals and taking care of them and are looking to build that dream into more than just a career but an amazing life!
All are encouraged to apply whether you are a new or recent grad or have been practicing for years and need a change, a chance to go back to the simple life!
