Equine Veterinary Externship Open to Veterinary Students
Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center
March 5, 2018
Ringoes, New Jersey
Type & Experience Level:
Externship - One to seven years
Our externship program runs all year long with the externs completing a minimum of 5 days to a maximum of 3 weeks. Externships start on Mondays, and there is housing available on site if wanted. Our externship program is very rigorous but you will see and participate in a lot of interesting cases and it will give you an idea of what a private practice equine internship is like.
Students are expected to assist all doctors and technicians with the daily operations of our hospital. This includes assisting in numerous procedures (e.g. placing catheters, giving medications, observe outpatient appointments, scrub into elective and emergency surgeries, etc). During the day, you will be asked to help perform daily exams (including TPRs) and administering medications. Also, externs are asked to help assist the overnight doctors and technicians with the care of our patients and with any emergencies that may come in.
Externships are open to veterinary students currentlyattending any AVMA accredited veterinary school in the US and overseas.
You can apply by emailing email@example.com! The externship schedule fills up quickly, especially for the spring and summer months, so feel free to contact us far in advance. You will be asked to send us a copy of your resume or CV, a letter of intent, a letter of good academic standing from your school and a digital picture of yourself.
