- Veterinary Nursing Supervisor

Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Nursing Supervisor to join our leadership team. This individual will play a critical role in overseeing the operations and workflow of designated clinical departments, guiding and mentoring nursing staff while ensuring the highest standards of patient care and professional performance. In partnership with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and Department Heads, this role supports cross-departmental initiatives and is instrumental in driving efficiency, safety, and cohesion across teams. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills along with a genuine commitment to patient care and team success.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, and support departmental staff to maintain quality performance and a positive culture
- Provide hands-on training and lead by example in clinical excellence and patient care
- Uphold and enforce hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care
- Conduct timely corrective actions aligned with hospital values
- Promote team development through mentorship, ongoing feedback, and conflict resolution
- Participate in the hiring and selection process for new team members
- Oversee comprehensive onboarding and training for new hires
- Conduct and contribute to quarterly and annual performance evaluations
- Assess technical skills and develop individualized growth and development plans
- Manage employee scheduling, time tracking, and Earned Time Off (ETO) approvals
- Support the development and implementation of departmental policies and SOPs
- Lead or participate in department meetings and share key updates with staff and doctors
- Monitor hospital cleanliness, equipment functionality, and facility safety
- Promote communication and teamwork across departments
- Collaborate on hospital-wide initiatives to improve workflow and patient outcomes
- Represent nursing teams in management discussions and share updates with staff
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting
- Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or related field
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential required
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with veterinary practice management systems and computer literacy
- Full-time position with rotating weekend and holiday coverage required
- Flexible scheduling may be necessary to fulfill supervisory duties
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. when handling patients or equipment
