Description
Acorn Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced veterinarian for a temporary, part-time maternity leave coverage position at our well-established and thriving 10-doctor practice.
Duration & Schedule:
- Position need is anticipated to begin at the end of March 2026 to September 2026, approximately 6 months.
- Preferred schedule coverage needed is Wednesday afternoons (3 pm – 7 pm), Friday afternoons (3 pm – 7 pm), and every other Saturday morning (7:30 am – 1 pm). Hours are anticipated total about 15-20 hours per week.
Located in Franklin, MA, our suburban community is 40 miles southwest of Boston and offers all the charm of a historical New England town with easy access to the Boston and Providence metro areas and an abundance of local parks and outdoor recreation.
At Acorn Animal Hospital, You Will Love:
- Medical and surgical excellence: Seeing a variety of cases including acute and chronic disease patients, as well as routine and advanced surgical procedures - spay/neuter, mass removals, foreign bodies, dental extractions, etc.
- A high standard of care: Providing client education and preventive care for wellness patients and offering comprehensive treatment options for sick patients.
- Working with our collaborative, 10 DVM team and skilled support staff in a large clinic facility with industry-leading and up-to-date equipment.

Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an AVMA accredited university, or equivalent
- Active veterinarian license to practice in the state of MA, or license-eligible
- Experienced in companion animal wellness and preventive care medicine
- A commitment to the highest standard of medicine and upholding the veterinary code of ethics
Position Type: This is a fixed contract opportunity for a temporary, part-time position needed for approximately 6 months. Compensation is negotiable based on experience, availability, and contract terms.
