Chesapeake Humane Society is seeking a compassionate and collaborative Associate Veterinarian to join our high-volume, low-cost veterinary clinic. This role is ideal for a skilled DVM who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working in a supportive team environment, and thrives in a fast-paced setting. About Us: CHS offers a range of veterinary services to the public, shelter animals, and rescue partners, including preventative care, spay/neuter and dental surgeries, heartworm treatment, and routine wellness care. Our clientele includes dogs, cats, rabbits, and occasionally other small animals.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct vaccine clinics, wellness and sick appointments, and minor medical procedures
- Perform spay/neuter, dental, and soft tissue surgeries
- Assist with shelter rounds and support local shelters when needed
- Provide guidance and supervision to Licensed Veterinary Technicians and Assistants
- Offer medical counseling and client education
What We’re Looking For:
- DVM from an accredited veterinary school
- Licensed to practice in Virginia (or eligible for licensure)
- Experience in shelter medicine or high-volume spay/neuter preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively, multitask, and maintain a positive attitude
