- Associate Veterinarian - Where Medicine Meets Sanity (Yes! It still exists)
Description
Tired of corporate chaos, cookie-cutter medicine, and being told how many “wellness plans” you need to sell this week? We actively try to work as differently as possible from corporate practices and don't even offer wellness plans!
Welcome to Lake Road Animal Hospital in Horseheads, NY – an independently owned, progressive small animal practice where we still believe pets (and the people who care for them) deserve our best.
We’re looking for a veterinarian who loves good medicine, honest communication, and having an actual life outside of work. You’ll join our 3.5 doctor team just a few minutes south of the stunning Finger Lakes region of NYS – land of eleven sparkling lakes, jaw-dropping waterfalls, world class wineries, and almost no traffic. (Also, a remarkably low risk area for natural disasters. Seriously, Google it.)
What’s in it for you:
Flexible schedule – because burnout is not a badge of honor. We can create a schedule that best fits your needs.
No after-hours emergencies – unless you count deciding on which lake to boat!
Mentorship if you’re new, autonomy if you’re not.
Equipment that actually works: digital rads, Oncura ultrasound, therapy laser, Idexx in-house lab, and a feline only exam space (for when you need a dog-free day).
A support team that is competent and kind, and includes four Licensed Veterinary Technicians – no one yells, we keep snacks and drinks stocked, and we mean it when we say “take a sick day”.
About the Area:
If the words “upstate New York” make you picture snow and silence, you’re in for a surprise. The Finger Lakes have all four seasons of adventure: kayaking, skiing, hiking, wineries, and festivals galore! Ithaca’s intellectual charm and Corning’s artsy vibe are just minutes away. It’s small-town life but with flavor, culture and zero pretense.
Perks and Pay:
Competitive salary or production (no negative accrual, because who needs that stress), 401K with match, health insurance, CE allowance, paid time off, all licensing fees, and discounted pet care. Ownership potential for those looking to put down roots (and maybe some grapevines).
