DVM salary is negotiable. Salary is based on veterinary experience, skills, proficiency, and other veterinary and non-veterinary credentials. 

Ocala Central Veterinary Care offers fourth year veterinary students an externship opportunity. Students shadow our veterinarians and actively participate in all aspects of small animal and exotic practice rotating through medical, surgical, and routine health care visits. Externs are accepted for 2 to 4 week rotations, depending on student needs.

Requirements

• Conduct thorough physical exams, diagnose medical and surgical conditions.
• Develop treatment plans for pet owners, walk through options and explanations.
• Provide routine preventive care, including vaccinations and annual lab work.
• Maintain medical records for patients, documenting treatments and progress.
• Prioritize good working relationships with professional and support staff to promote a positive work environment and best patient care.
• Excel in client education, client communication, and client follow up.
• Participate in continuing education opportunities, stay current with advancements.
• Handle emergencies with professionalism and efficiency.
